Typography images

When people think of typography they just thinks of fonts, straight lines and words but there is much more to type. Words and letters can be twisted and made up of different sizes and shapes to create graphic portraits (and other images) much like a project i had done before were i had to create the jack and jill story through fonts and the different sizes of text!! here the images seem to be done possibly in illustrator they are very much complete and interesting pieces work.

The "J" is a strong feature showing the jaw line and the "G" stands clearly as the ear the main features are easily recognizable

3D Chalk Drawings ( JULIAN BEEVER )

Julian Beever is an English, Belgium-based chalk artist who has been creating chalk drawings on pavement surfaces since the mid-1990s. His works are created using a projection called anamorphosis, and create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle. Here this video from youtube shows pictures of his work in which i find fascinating.

Photography ( Isolation )

Recently for a photography class we got into groups and were to take four pictures of chairs any shape if size as long as it was a chair or chairs, we agreed on a theme for these pictures and that was Isolation. The photo here was taken by myself using my camera... upon looking at it i thought of the idea of isolation and the samaritans came to mind so just out of the blue i made this image!!

My Book covers

On the book cover project i was given a choice of three well known books The Medium is the massage,Brave new world and The Secret History upon looking into these i decided to go with the first two! i felt they offered more variety and space to work with designs and ideas these are my final outcomes...This project was one of my favorite throughout the term as i felt it really helped my ability and attitude to design that much more (Im still learning ;)

The smily face image is one of my all time favorite "icons" and i couldn't pass the opportunity to include it somewhere the book itself is "An inventory of effects" and one of the original book covers had an image of a stretched face so i capitalized on that idea (if it aint broke dont fix it)

And added a little bit of humor to it!! (The smily face is one of my fridge magnets).

The two covers here are the same only the color has changed i liked the idea and effect of someone having to stare at the cover and really zoom in on the text to read it!! the back of the cover is like a mirror image of the front (My influence here was a well known album cover of my favorite band...take a guess???)

Drugs is the idea in this cover ...Drugs offer a new dimesion and allows the mind and body to achieve things that would not necessarily occur naturally (The pills are Creatine)

Here the idea was influenced by an image of binary (Binary is the "language" or "Code" if you will of computers ...Matrix anyone?) so the cover i created here is a Brave new world through the access of digital media or the internet even! a world that holds alot of good but also alot of evil...

Pixel Art

This project was based on creating a pixelated image of myself using media which was non computer based and had to be made with the desired grid in the project brief which was specified 32x32 range ... The media that i found worked well and the one which i used as shown below was a simple structure of colored dots on white card that defined my facial features with Red,Black,Yellow and white.

Pixelated art is a popular media used mostly in Video games and as a growing collection of famous faces or "Icons" such as Marilyn Monroe etc computer programs are commonly used to create these digital images which was a bit different from my project which was handmade ...

A project i have previously done was to create a world in a matchbox ... something that represents me and my interests so since i have a keen interest on music and my favorite band is METALLICA here is a full size concert complete with fireworks and large screen i think it turned out better than i had anticipated. The crowd were on fire ...

Constructivism...

Founded in 1913 by Vladimir Tatlin, the Russian Constructivist movement developed from Cubism, Italian Futurism, and Suprematism in Russia, Neo Plasticism in Holland, and the Bauhaus School in Germany. The term Constructivism is used to define non-representational relief construction, sculpture, kinetics, and painting!! constructivism is a movement i have come to like very much maybe because red and black are my favorite colors and are often used in the designs but also the i like the whole russian/German war era where the style was inspired here are some of my favorite images taken from various sources in google image. I couldnt resist the Bender image hey... it is constructivism!!

Here is an attempt at a constructivism style poster its not the best i know but its one i quickly made one day to bring into class when i make another one i think photoshop would really take things to another level rather than using card and glue! looking back at this i should maybe have cut the letters out... maybe next time

**WATCH IN HQ AND LARGE SCREEN**

So here i have been ahem... "researching"... Call of Duty:World at war the last few weeks and found that the cutscenes before each level were not only graphically awesome but they also remind me alot of the constructivism and modernism style and the poster design that my class had done previously this year what you think? the black and grey against the blue and red in the video stand out much like if you were to photocopy and use colored paper as a layover...excellent Scenes !!

I used my capture card and my Xbox 360 to film the scenes then cut out the necessary footage..bar the little bit in between my movie maker wouldn't delete it !
